Central City, Colorado - The "Richest Square Mile on Earth" is nestled in the Rocky Mountain foothills, just a short drive West of Denver with the ski areas located in close proximity to I-70. Colorado's golden past and vibrant present come alive each summer in the Central City Opera House, built in 1878. This National Historic Landmark, centerpiece of the historic gold mining town of Central City, has hosted performances of the nation's fifth-oldest opera company since 1932. Central City Opera's national summer festival attracts patrons from 46 states to this intimate, 550-seat opera house.
